Keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts let you run common actions without reaching for the mouse. They work throughout the app, wherever you are.

Global shortcuts

These are active whenever you are not typing in a field. Press a key on its own, or hold Shift for the paired action.

Key Action
N New Task (with a List open)
Shift+N New List
0 Open Preferences
1 Switch between Private and Cowork
2 Collapse or expand the sidebar
3 Collapse or expand the List header
4 Turn the Calendar on or off
Shift+4 Cycle the Calendar between Day, Week, and Month
Left / Right Move the Calendar to the previous or next day, week, or month
Down Bring the Calendar back to today
8 Switch between inline and full screen
Shift+8 Automatic window mode
9 Switch between dark and light
Shift+9 Match the page (automatic theme)

A few of these depend on where you are:

  • N, 3, and 4 need a List open, and N adds a new Task to the List you are viewing.
  • 1 only does something when both Private and Cowork are enabled. If your admin has turned one section off, the key is inactive and its row is hidden from the shortcut list in Preferences.
  • Shift+4 and the arrow keys work only while the Calendar is on, and the arrows are ignored while a Task is open. For what the Day, Week, and Month views show, see "Calendar" under Tasks.

In forms and editors

  • When you add a Task, List, or checklist item, press Enter to add it, or Shift+Enter to add it and start another.
  • In the Markdown description and comment editors, press Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter) to save.
  • Press Esc to close an open dialog, menu, or preview.

Where to find them

The full list lives in Preferences, under Keyboard shortcuts. Open Preferences from the toolbar, or press 0 from anywhere you are not typing.
