Attachments
Attachments let you keep files and links with the Task they belong to. Open a Task and use its Attachments section to add them.
Attaching a file or a link
You can attach two kinds of thing to a Task:
- Files – upload a file from your device, or drag it into the add box, and it stays with the Task.
- Links – point to a page or resource somewhere else.
Uploaded files are stored privately, outside the WordPress media library, so only people who can see the Task can view or download them.
Working with attachments
Each attachment is a row in the Attachments section:
- Click a row to expand it and read its description; use Edit description in the row menu to add or change the note.
- Images open in a preview right in the app and PDFs open in a new browser tab; other file types download instead. Any file can also be downloaded with its download button.
- Drag the handle at the left of a row to reorder the list.
- Delete an attachment from the row menu. Deleting a file removes it from the site; this cannot be undone.
On a shared Cowork List you need to be able to manage Tasks to add, edit, or remove Attachments – Guests can open and download them, but cannot change anything. A locked Task’s Attachments are frozen too.
Limits vary by site
Your site’s admin decides how Attachments work, so what you see depends on the site:
- Where Attachments can be added – in Cowork, in Private, in both, or nowhere.
- Allowed file types – only the file types your admin permits can be uploaded.
- Maximum file size – each uploaded file must stay under the size limit your admin set.
These limits only gate adding new Attachments. If the admin narrows the setting later, existing Attachments stay with their Tasks and can still be opened, downloaded, and removed. A Task shows no Attachments section only when adding is turned off for that kind of List and the Task has none yet. Links are not subject to the file type and size limits.
